SMD fuse concept
The chip current fuse can be divided into the following shapes according to size and performance:
(1). The products can be classified according to size: 0402, 0603, 1206
(2). The products can be classified into three types according to performance: fast fusing, slow fusing and enhanced melting heat energy.
Chip self-recovery fuses can be classified according to size: 0402, 0603, 1206, 1812, 2920, etc. If the chip fuse has high requirements, it is generally made of thin film, with ultra-low internal resistance, suitable for overcurrent protection, such as surge. Computer peripheral products, mobile phones and other communication equipment, digital cameras, monitors, batteries are commonly used. The manufacturers that can produce with this kind of technology all have a certain scale.
SMD fuses can be divided into disposable SMD fuses and SMD self-recovery fuses. The one-time fuse needs to be replaced after protection. After the self-recovery fuse is protected, the power can be recovered and reused.
SMD fuses have the following four basic types:
(1) Slow blowout / time delay fuse;
(2) Double alloy slow blow fuse;
(3) Fast response type fuse;
(4) Very fast-acting fuse.
Slow-blow fuses are very suitable for circuits containing transient current surges or start-up surges. These circuits include: motors, transformers, incandescent lamps and applicable load devices.
Fast-response fuses respond quickly and are suitable for circuits without transient current surges.
Special quick-acting fuses usually have silver connections. Due to the current-limiting capabilities of fuses, these fuses are often used to protect semiconductor circuits.
